Background: My name is Tim Firkowski, I have been around since 1963 and I am hoping that you will allow me to bring your family history to life.
I have been doing genealogy research on my family since 2002. My father was born in Poland in 1942, but my grandparents left Poland when he was six months old. Since he came to the U.S. with his parents and sister, he has always tried to find someone with his same last name in the U.S. during his travels, and was never successful. My interest in genealogy began by meeting Lukasz Firkowski from Poland on ICQ. In two years of research, we located 1300 members of our family, in four years 2300 were located. Thousands of hours were spent in gathering information and “assembling” the family. The First Firkowski Family Reunion was held in Poland in 2004. Family members attending numbered 202 from six countries at that First Family Reunion. The story of our research has been featured in five Polish newspapers, and two radio programs in Poland.
I enjoy the challenge of searching and solving problems. From early on in life I had an interest in computer programming, which developed into my interest in website design. My interest in photography has followed me since I was a child.

Testimonials: "After doing extensive research on the internet to select a professional whose experience and regional contacts would suit our problem, I contacted Diane. Her reply was prompt and professional. Due to our upcoming trip, she was able to complete our work in a matter of days. Because of the lengthy and detailed information she sent us, we changed our schedule and visited towns, homes, and cemeteries that were relevant to our line. She built a detailed file with much information about many families in the area with the same surname. Ruling out which lines to pursue was extremely valuable, and saved much wasted time. We will be using Diane to work on the next thorny problem that comes our way. She makes it obvious why it is necessary to use the help of a professional. She truly did things that we do not have the experience or access to do."
Amy Williams

“Diane provided excellent, exhaustive research. Outstanding detailed reports of the research performed and leads followed. Top-notch, highly-accessible, and all delivered within the agreed time frame. If you get a chance to hire Diane on your project, do it.”
Michael Butler, Houston, Texas

“This is the second time I have used Diane’s service and I continue to be impressed by her thoroughness, level of detail and high quality back-up documentation. She has saved me from several dark blind alleys, set me on the right path and more importantly provided me the tips and tools I need to source critical data for myself. I have enjoyed working with Diane and won’t hesitate to connect with her again.”
Blake Daley

“I could not be more pleased with the service Diane provided. She was responsive, and incredibly thorough. My family has been trying to figure out one set of ancestors for years, and Diane added more clarity and insight in just a few hours than the rest of us could add after years of research. If you have any interest in understanding genealogy in Massachusetts in the 1600s and 1700s, I doubt you will find anyone better than Diane.”
Michael R.

“The project turned out to be much bigger than either of us had anticipated, but Diane did a fabulous job of completing it and supplied me with excellent photos of all the documents. I could not have done this myself, and her legal knowledge and skill and prompt completion of the work were invaluable to me. I would highly recommend Diane, especially for work requiring legal expertise!”

Background: I have always loved the intersection of people's individual stories with the larger story of history and culture, and especially to hear family stories - not just of my own family but also of family friends and the elderly residents I befriended while volunteering in assisted living centers. I have been actively researching my own family history for over a decade and had been helping friends and acquaintances with small pro bono projects for several years before beginning a professional career. After completing the BU Certificate in Genealogical Research in 2010, I began taking paying clients. I have since completed the ProGen Study Group program (2010-2012) and taken BU's advanced genealogical courses entitled "Writing Family History Narratives and Other Genealogical Works" (2011) and "Civilly Uncommon: Advanced Legal Analysis for Genealogists" (2014), as well as attending numerous conferences, seminars, lectures, etc. I am currently a student in the correspondence course of the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies in England.

My personal research has given me skills in tracking migratory people, both between and within countries, and has exposed me to a wide range of record sets and types of research. Some of the record sets I especially enjoy using are homesteading applications in North America, school records, historical newspapers, court records, and cemetery records, as well as using DNA test results as a complement to traditional research methods. Other historical interests include (but are not limited to) women's roles and occupations; slavery in the Northern US and Canada; utilizing historical maps to help reconstruct a neighborhood; and the history of gardening and agriculture.
Services Provided: In addition to general genealogical and historical research, I can: retrieve records from numerous area repositories; compile gift books of photos & stories based on your research & family memorabilia; help you create a plan to better care for your private family archival materials; help you provide social history context for your research and/or take photographs of local historic sites; conduct oral history interviews; and other services. I enjoy doing research both for non-local clients who need local help with some aspect of their own personal or professional genealogical or historical research project and clients who would like someone else to research their family.

Background: Rich started researching his family history after the death of his maternal grandmother in 2003, having come across an incomplete family tree she had begun. Quickly becoming wrapped up in the excitement of finding his family, his quest took him abroad to Italy, Wales, England, and Ireland, as well as various places in the US in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Salt Lake City. There have been indescribable feelings of wonder upon arriving in the place where his Italian ancestors hailed from, or literally stumbling upon the grave of his fourth-great-grandparents in Ireland. Rich knows what it feels like to find his family (he's still finding them, in fact!), and he hopes to be able to bring that joy and satisfaction to you, as well. He brings over a decade of experience, global awareness, and a youthful energy to your search.
Services Provided: Ever heard about that crazy great-uncle who may or may not have spent his last years in jail? Or perhaps the family story says you are descendants of royalty? Know your family's Italian, but don't know whether your meat sauce should be Bolognese or Neapolitan ragu? Rich Roots provides genealogical services to help you find your rich roots. Specializing in (but not limited to) Irish and Italian immigrant records, Rich brings over a decade of experience to your family search. Experienced in online and repository research, Rich can aid an advanced amateur in breaking down that brick wall - or search more deeply, both on-site and online, to create a family history for you and yours to cherish.
